Infographic: August 2016 Obamacare Open Enrollment Checklist – 7 Ways to Prepare

Posted Aug 05, 2015 by Jenifer Dorsey

Open enrollment for 2016 health insurance plans begins Nov. 1, 2015. It’s a little ways off, right? That may be the case, but those who buy individual or family coverage from a state-based or federally facilitated health insurance exchange or in the private health insurance marketplace may be wise to start thinking about it now.

Automatically renewing the same health insurance plan from year to year can be tempting due to perceived ease and convenience. However, because personal healthcare needs and household situations may change from year to year, sticking with the same plan can also mean missing out on the right benefits for your circumstances and possibly spending more than you need on coverage and/or medical.

Sure, you may ultimately decide to stick with your current health insurance coverage—or you may not. Either way, planning ahead for the 2016 Obamacare open-enrollment period can help you make a more informed decision. Our monthly open enrollment checklists will gradually help you prepare.
