Getting + Using the Card

Can you get a prescription drug card instead of insurance?

While a prescription drug discount card can supplement a major medical or alternative health insurance plan, it doesn’t cover medical procedures and is not health insurance.

If you’re looking for health insurance, check out major medical, an alternative health insurance bundle like Fusion, or short-term medical insurance.

Can you use a prescription discount card with insurance?

When paying for your prescriptions, you can’t combine your drug card discount with your health insurance plan prescription drug benefits.  However, you can choose to use your prescription drug card instead of your insurance, especially if it helps you get a lower price on your prescription. This includes Medicaid and Medicare users.

Do you have to qualify for a discount drug card?

No. Prescription drug cards do not require a deductible, an enrollment fee, or a health screening for pre-existing conditions.

Can you get a prescription filled without health insurance?

Yes. You can pay out of pocket for a prescription. That’s where a prescription savings card can come in handy. In fact, sometimes when you pay cash in conjunction with a discount drug card, you can wind up paying less for your prescription drugs than using your health insurance plan.

What pharmacies accept prescription discount cards?

You will need to check with your prescription discount card program. More than 60,000 network pharmacies accept Rx Paycard. Use the pharmacy locator tool to find one near you.

Do you need to file a claim to use prescription discount card benefits?

No. Simply present your Rx Paycard when you fill a prescription at a participating pharmacy, and your savings will be applied on the spot.

How do you use your card at the pharmacy?

When a prescription is sent to your participating pharmacy to be filled, you may need to specify that you wish to pay out of pocket and not through your insurance, since you cannot combine insurance coverage and the drug card discount.

When you pick up your prescription, present your card and the pharmacy will apply the discount.

Can everyone in your family use the card?

Check with your prescription discount program. Rx Paycard provides everyone with access to discounts.
